Voices Found: Shimmering with Love, Sixth Sunday after Pentecost, Weddings VF 145
The Song of Solomon graphic by Cody F Miller
Voices Found # 145, Verse One
Lo, the winter's past. For the rain is gone;
the flowers appear.
Time of singing has begun--
Lark and turtledove.
Rise then, come away,
as the vines burst into blossom here
rich with fragrance, drenched with sun,
shimmering with God's love.
Words: Mary Louise Bringle
Music:Robinson Chapel,William P. Rowan
Bringle's text echoes the Song of Solomon, a poetic evocation of intimate, sensual love. In three verses Bringle brings Solomon to life with William Rowan's music, originally written as a "hymn without words." It works well as a congregational hymn or a solo song, especially appropriate for weddings or any celebration of Divine love. You could easily add a melody instrument to double the tune. Now we can all can sing with Solomon!
