Chagall, The Sources of Music
Voices Found # 150
Antiphon:
Declare his glory among all nations; and his wonders among all people
Verse One
Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to ghe Lord all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
proclaim the good news of his salvation day by day.
Antiphon:
Declare his glory among all nations; and his wonders among all people
Words: Carol Gallagher and Michael Plunkett, para Psalm 96 of the Book of Common Prayer (1979) of the Episcopal Church USA
Music: Carol Gallagher and Michael Plunkett
Bishop Gallagher, a member of the Cherokee nation, writes, "We have attempted, through a merging and blending of influences and traditions from both church and tribe, to create music that echoes the rhythm and and heartbeat of our traditional ways while interweaving voices and harmonies familiar to modern church music." Gallagher's chant would be appropriate for a celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day October 12, or the Twenty-first Sunday after Pentecost, Proper 24A.
